چکیده

Introduction: To compare various accommodative parameters in prepresbyopic diabetic patients with age-matched healthy individuals. Materials and Methods: Study population consisted of 32 younger-onset diabetic patients (30-40 years of age) and 28 age-matched healthy normal individuals. Using the best correction for distance visual acuity (20.20 by Snellen chart), multiple accommodative ability tests such as near point of accommodation, accommodative amplitude, negative or positive accommodative facility and near point of convergence were measured in both

Accommodation measurements in a prepresbyopic and presbyopic population.

PURPOSE To study the efficacy of several subjective and objective methods of accommodation measurement in normal prepresbyopic and presbyopic populations to identify appropriate methods for measuring the outcome of accommodative restorative procedures. SETTING University of Houston, College of Optometry, Houston, Texas, USA. METHODS Thirty-one normal subjects with a mean age of 43.7 years (...

The Relationship between the High-Frequency Component of Accommodative Microfluctuation, Accommodative Lag and Accommodative Amplitude in Presbyopic Eyes

Purpose: To determine the relationship between the high-frequency component of accommodative microfluctuation (HFC) and accommodative lag in presbyopic eyes and how they affect the subjective accommodation power with other ophthalmic factors, such as pupil diameter and corneal multifocality. Methods: Forty subjects (80 eyes) were included in this study, and the non-corrected distance and near v...

Effect of age in the ciliary muscle during accommodation: Sectorial analysis.

PURPOSE To compare changes in the ciliary muscle area at different sectors between pre-presbyopic and presbyopic eyes during accommodation by means of an anterior segment optical coherence tomographer (OCT). METHODS The anterior ciliary muscle area was measured in 20 healthy and phakic pre-presbyopic eyes, whose mean age was 23.3±4.4 years, and in 20 healthy and phakic presbyopic eyes, whose ...

Polymer refilling of presbyopic human lenses in vitro restores the ability to undergo accommodative changes.

PURPOSE Because presbyopia is thought to be accompanied by increased lens sclerosis this study was conducted to investigate whether refilling the capsule of the presbyopic human lens with a soft polymer would restore the ability of the lens to undergo accommodative changes. METHODS Accommodative forces were applied to natural and refilled lenses by circumferential stretching through the cilia...

Lens fluorescence and accommodative amplitude in pre-presbyopic and presbyopic subjects.

Accommodative amplitude (AA; the difference, measured in diopters, between the near and far points of vision) declines steadily with age such that, by midlife, most individuals are unable to focus clearly on near objects and, thus, are said to be presbyopic. Conversely, intrinsic lens fluorescence (LF) increases steadily with age. Previous studies have suggested that AA and LF are negatively co...
